Mars near opposition over a coastline. Passing through the constellation of Virgo, Mars is the bright object at upper centre. Diagonally above and to its left and near top is the star Arcturus, in the constellation of Bootes. Lower down (below and slightly to the left of Acturus, and diagonally below and left of Mars), fainter than the other two and just above the right-hand part of the trees at left, is the planet Saturn in the constellation of Libra. These are the three brightest objects in the sky, here forming a large triangle across the sky. Photographed on 9 April 2014, near the Ile Vierge, off the north-west coast of Brittany, France.
