Nehaj fortress. 20080973iew of the Adriatic from the roof. Looming on a spur to the south of the city, the Nehaj fortress was built in 1558 in defence against the invading Ottoman armies. Today it houses a museum dedicted to the city's defenders, the Uskok corsairs who, with often less than a thousand men, held the Turkish forces at bay for almost a century.
