A Gabar goshawk (Micronisus gabar) with melanistic form plumage. This carnivorous bird of prey inhabits the savannah and bushlands of southern Africa. It is a solitary diurnal hunter, flying low over the ground or watching from a tree for its prey of rodents, insects, lizards, small birds and nestlings.
