MODEL RELEASED. Sperm whale skeleton preparation. Museum conservator, Abdi Hedayat, soaks a sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) skeleton in a tank filled with 20,000 litres of warm water. Over a period of just over a month, the process will loosen soft tissue stuck to the bones. The entire whale skeleton requires the use of four container tanks. This whale was found stranded on Henne Strand, Jutland, Denmark. It measured 14 meters in length and weighed an estimated 30 tonnes. The skeleton will be cleaned and re-assembled for display at the Zoological Museum in Copenhagen.
