Pollen being collected from the stamen of a male zucchini (courgette} flower for application to the stigma in the centre of a female flower. Reductions in bee and butterfly populations result in lower yields in zucchini production as the bees, butterflies and other insects are necessary for natural pollination. With the zucchini plant only the female flowers develop fruit.
