Coquerel's sifaka (Propithecus coquereli) mother and baby, leaping from a tree. This lemur is found in the rainforests of Madagascar, feeding on fruits, flowers, bark and leaves. It is named for its distinctive 'shi-fak' alarm call, which is used to warn members of the group when predators are near. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. Photographed in Madagascar.
