Voyage of Zheng He. 15th-century double-leaved woodblock prints in the oriental style, showing ships, diagrams and text relating to the voyages of the fleet led by Chinese admiral Zheng He (1371-1435). His fleet explored the Indian Ocean and the coasts of South-East Asia in seven voyages between 1405 and 1433. Known as the treasure voyages, they brought back much wealth and tribute. These prints are from chapter (Juan) 240 of a work titled 'Wu bei zhi' (1644) by Yuanyi Mao (1594-1640). Juan 240 is one of 80 volumes in 8 cases, and shows the route from Nanjing to the Persian Gulf, probably the fourth of the seven voyages between 1413 and 1415.
