Arctic tern (Sterna paradisaea) in flight. This seabird breeds in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of Europe, Asia and North America. At the onset of the Arctic winter it performs the longest migration of any known animal, flying over 19,000 kilometres to the oceans around the Antarctic. It feeds on small fish and crustaceans. Photographed in July over Norway's Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic.
