The mineral Chalcosite or Chalcocite (older name Chalcosine) is a copper sulfide (Cu2S) that is an important ore for copper. It occurs in oxidation zones around copper deposits, massively or granular, more rarely as prismatic or tabular crystals, black or dark grey with a metallic luster as in this sample.
