Giant granadilla flowers. 17th-century botanical illustration of the structure of the flowers of the giant granadilla (Passiflora quadrangularis), a type of passionflower. This plant is found in the Neotropic region (Central and South America). The illustration is titled 'Vera effigie della granadilla' (a true likeness of the granadilla), and the text at bottom refers to Giovanni Fabri, a member of the Lyncean Academy (founded 1603). Also named is Donato d'Eremita of the Santa Caterina a Formiello church in Naples, Italy. This illustration was published in Naples in 1619.
