White Rhino conservation operation. Ranger holding the horn of a sedated and blindfolded white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) during a capture and notching operation to help protect these rhinos from poaching. Also known as the square-lipped rhino, this large herbivore feeds on grass and lives on the grasslands of southern Sudan and South Africa. Due to extensive hunting for their horns, white rhinoceroses are now highly endangered. Photographed in August 2015, in Phinda Private Game Reserve, Zululand, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
