A SteriPEN water sterilisation device in a glass of water. The SteriPEN was designed as a portable, battery powered device that can be used to sterilise drinking water in travel, adventure holidays or in a survival situation. It emits ultraviolet light in the UV-C band (100-380nm wavelength) that acts on the DNA inside bacteria and protists making them unable to reproduce. It is claimed that SteriPEN will sterilise one litre of water in 90 seconds. SteriPEN is a product and trademark of Hydro-Photon, Inc.
