The Kuiper Belt is a disc of small bodies ranging from the orbit of Neptune, at approximately 30 AU (astronomical units) from the Sun, out to 50 AU. Similar to the Asteroid Belt, but 20 times wider and 20 to 200 times more massive. Many Kuiper Belt objects are remnants from the formation of the Solar System, and are composed largely of ices, including methane, ammonia and water.
