The swan mussel, Anodonta cygnea, is a bivalve mollusk that lives in fresh stationary waters. Its two large identical shells are thin and fragile. It can extend a kind of extremity or foot that allows it to move around a bit. The swan mussel is native to the European-Siberian mainland but spreading out to North Africa. Actual length of specimen here shown is 12 cm.
