PALMISTRY Six palms and corresponding readings, relating to parturition, from Johannes Taisnier, Opus Mathematicus, 1562. The top three deal with fixed signs in the hand which assure easy birth in women. 1. Strong and well proportioned lines (especially in the triangle, centred on the palm) indicate easy birth, with little pain. 2. The single reversed L symbol, on the Mount of Moon is another sign of easy birth. A well-formed triangle in the space above the Head line, and below the Heart line, is yet another indicator of easy birth. The lower three hand offer fixed readings of hands that pertain to difficult birth. 1. When the Head line arises between the fingers of Jupiter and Saturn (as indicated), this may be taken as a sign of death in childbirth, or at least extreme debility. 2. A heavy descending line between the fingers of Mercury and Sun indicates pain in childbirth, and even death. 3. Another sign of death in childbirth is a large and reddish line between the fingers of Jupiter and Saturn (as indicated).
