The elderly lady flower seller has set up her table and stock of bunches of fresh cut flowers for every occasion. In a box on the ground, a ticket with the price per bunch has NF (Nouveau Franc) to indicate the new currency which was brought in on 1 January 1960. Prices were written indicating NF up until 1963 to remind shoppers that the Bonaparte Franc was no longer in use. The flower seller is outside a closed dairy shop in Paris, France, circa 1960. Hand-painted 19th century style decorative glass panels with traditional pastoral themes advertise Specialite de Beurre d'Isigny and Specialite de Fromages Fins. Dairies were being closed down at this time so the flower seller could set up her table with all her flowers outside the empty premises. The shop would probably not have remained closed for long - enterprising shopkeepers might reopen their shop as a cake shop and keep the beautiful 19th century style painted glass panels with their traditional bucolic scenes. Supermarkets were opening where customers still took their milk pail to buy their fresh milk that was ladled into it, but it was the end of an era.
