British artist Patrick Shelley, born in South Africa circa 1928, died January 2012 in the Midi, South of France, aged 83. Behind him are examples of his Sensual paintings of women in his Paris studio. Beat poet Gregory Corso wrote a poem as an introduction to Patrick Shelley's first Paris exhibition as a Sensualist painter in April 1956 and acknowledged that Shelley had introduced him to the hotel in 9 rue Git-le-Coeur before it became known as the Beat Hotel.
