Les Halles at night on the corner of one of the meat pavilions. Unloading the night's deliveries of produce from delivery vans that have driven through and parked in the well lit covered roads linking the Baltard pavilions. There were no pallets or forklift trucks in Les Halles so deliveries had to be lifted by hand on to one of the many different designs of upright trolley or barrow. Butchers observed by an inspector have come with their upright barrows to collect boxes packed with small items of meat as they are being unloaded from the back of one of the vans by the deliveryman. The butchers are wearing long aprons. A van with "Mouette" painted on the side is parked on the other side of the road against the pavement. In the background four men are relaxing having a little rest. Baltard pavilions, Quartier des Halles, 1er arrondissement, Right Bank, Paris, France, circa 1960s.
