Room 41, the highest and last room in the Beat Hotel. Photographer Harold Chapman shows his photographs of Stella Benjamin and Gregory Corso to Cyclops Lester. The photograph is taken by the delayed action release and was processed in an improvised darkroom in a niche about the size of a wardrobe. The niche was blacked out by two ex-Army blankets and photographs were printed with an enlarger bought in a flea market which stood on a couple of orange crates nailed together. The prints were washed in the sink and hung up to dry on a line across the room and the films were scraps given by a cine cameraman. Beat Hotel, 9 rue Git-le-Coeur, Left Bank, Paris 6, France, 1959.
