Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony Wearing ancient Greek costume high priestess of the museam of ancient Olympia holds high above her head the vase of 'holy ' light during the Olympic flame lighting ceremony here on December 16th . Due to very bad weather conditions the ceremony was switched from the Temple of Hera ( Ruins ) to the museam . The flame , handed over to an athlete by the first high priestess will be taken up to Mount Olympus from where , it will be brought to Ahens to be handed over to the French Committee plane . In Grenoble the flame will remain alive until the 10th Olympic Winter Games Start 18th December 1967
