An action against a town clerk alleging that he enticed away a wife was heard by Mr Justice McCardie at the Hertfordshire Assizes at Hertford , Mr William George Marshall , aged 55 , of Britton Avenue , St Alban ' s the Town Clerk of St Albans , was the defendant in a claim for damages brought by Mr George Edward Tate , aged 60 years , Blenheim Avenue , At St Albans alleging that Mr Marshall enticed Acay his wife , Mrs Daisy Tate . There was a further claim for damages by Mr Tate for alleged libel by Mr Marshall . Mr G E Tate arriving for the hearing of the case . 22 February 1933
