' Husband enticement ' case reaches concluding stage . The case heard by Mr Justice Swift in the King ' s Bench Division in which Mrs Florence Austin Newton of Hampstead Garden Suburb , London , wife of Mr Cyril Raymond Newton , the dance band leader , is claiming damages for the enticement away of her husband , reached its concluding stage .The defendants in the action are Mrs Pat Hardy of Newcastle and Mr Harold John Hardy of Scarborough . Under the law a man is responsible for his wife ' s wrongful acts . The case is the first of its kind to be heard in a British court .
