Dog gives alarm and saves four lives in fire . An Airedale dog that sleeps in the hall at night , roused the household when fire broke out on the ground floor of Mr Stanley Harris Bomer ' s house at Ham Common . The outbreak occured in the lounges on the ground floor and the dog rushed upstairs and awakened Mr Somers by scartching at the door to his bedroom . The dog , Ruff , saved the lives of Mr Somers , Mrs Somers and their son aged 17 and daughter aged 19 .
