British refugees from Spanish Civil War arrived home. Escaping from the bloodshed and horror of the Spanish Civil War, a party of 86 British refugees arrived at Paddington Station from Barcelona were some of the fiercest fighting of the revolution occurred. Most of the party left at such short notice that they were without money and had only the clothes they were wearing. The Ministry of health officials met them and came to the rescue, advancing money to those who needed it.
