Fireman sues Liverpool police chief and watch committee, alleged wrongful dismissal. The Chief Constable of Liverpool and members of the Watch Committee were defendants in action at Liverpool Assizes, before Mr Justice Tucker and a special jury, brought by former member of the Liverpool City Police Fire Brigade.. John Sidney Coventry, of Royston Street, Edge Hill, Liverpool, claimed decorations that he was not validly dismissed from the Force by the Chief Constable, Archibald Kennedy Wilson, or the Watch Committee, that there was no valid hearing by the Watch Committee of his appeal against the Chiefs decision on certain that disciplinary charges against him, that the Chief was not entitled to suspend him, and they never cease to be a member of the Force. He claimed also orders for the payment of all arrears of pay since 11 July, 1933, and for cancellation of all records of his purporteddismissal. It was stated that a charge of disobedience to orders and two charges of insubordinate conduct were preferred against Coventry, arising from his conduct at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall fire on 5 July 1933.
