General Gouraud hands over military Governorship of Paris to his successor. After 50 years of service in the French Army, Gen Henry Gouraud, Military Governor of Paris, has retired, having reached the age limit. General Gouraud took part in a farewell ceremony in the courtyard of the Invalides, his headquarters during the long period, he commanded the armed forces in and around Paris, when he handed over his post to his successor, General Billotte. General Gouraud lost his arm on 30 June 1915, when visiting wounded men. Altogether he was wounded five times.
