The sudden radio order which changed the course of the German freighter "Schwaben" led to the rescue of the disabled yacht "Ling Dar", which was drifting in the Caribbean, far from usual shipping lanes. When the German ship found the yacht, the people aboard, including two women and a boy, was starving and had reached the last 2 gallons of fresh water. The freighter towed the yacht to Cartagena, Colombia, and resumed her voyage to Seattle.
