Playing with bow and arrow, Major J G Hayter, acknowledged expert at the annual sport of "bow and arrow golf", met Colonel E St George Kirke, the captain of the club, in a match at the Hankley Common Golf Club, Surrey. He conceded a stroke a gale. Major Hayter shoots his arrow into a box instead of a hole. His average for most of the Surrey courses is in the seventies.
