Chislehurst, Kent: Mr J H Easden of Royal Parade, Chislehurst, puts the finishing touches to the casket which will contain the traditional glove the Queen will use at the Coronation. He was commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Glovers, of London, who have been granted by the Earl marshal the privilege of providing the Coronation glove. The Queen has appointed Lord Woolton, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, to make the presentation at Westminster Abbey. Oak from the timbers of Nelson's flagship "Victory" has been used in the making, and the casket is lined with purple velvet from which the Coronation robe is made. On the lid in silver are the Royal Cypher, the Arms of Worksop Priory and the Worshipful Company of Glovers, and an inscription plate, mounted on panels of Kentish cherry-wood. The glove, for the right hand, will be of white kid lined with silk. April 23rd 1953
