The Witch of the New Forest, Sybil Leek - her tame Jackdaw Hotfoot Jackson perched on her shoulder - locks up her antique shop today after being given notice to quit by the landlord. Under her arm Mrs Leek carries a ceremonial sword which she uses in her practice of witchcraft. For the past few years, Mrs Leek's antique shop has been a focal point of interest to this small town in the New Forest. Visitors from all over the world call on Britain's Queen of Witches either out of curiosity or for advice on matters concerning the occult. It was when Mrs Leek returned recently from a lecture tour of America in connection with the publication of her book "A Shop in the High Street", that she received a letter saying that the lease on her shop would not be renewed, finalising a "Notice to Quit" that she received last Autumn after she had received publicity on films, television and in the press. In August, Mrs Leek returns to America where it is believed she will settle down and live. 23rd June 1964
