Baffin's route chart of his 1615 voyage, showing by a "red prickle line" his route into Hudson Strait and the mouth of the Foxe Basin. The crosses show the places he landed "to make tryall of the tyde". The apparent lack of tides convinced him that Hudson Strait was not a passage to the west.
