June 6th 1960 He's only six, but Johnnie Hague wields a butcher's cleaver like a veteran. When most other small boys are dreaming of space travel, Johnnie is down to earth and has made up his mind to follow his dad, who runs a butcher's shop in Barwick-in-Elmet, near Tadcaster, Yorkshire. He's been working at it since he was three but however busy he is in the shop, Johnnie isn't given a chance to dodge his homework because to become a master butcher there are plenty of exams to pass. And, however well Johnnie can cut up shorthorn, he can't find a short cut through those.
