Salvador Dali shows his abstract painting (left) which he gave to the Berkshire Hotel in return for the Bouguereau Canvas "Satyr surrounded by Nymphs" (right). The regretful Hotel Management protested the exchange because they thought the contract was cancelled and also because Dali said he originally wanted the painting to put it out of circulation because it was the worst of Bad Art, but said he wanted it for his private collection. A hotel spokesman said the abstract "Didn't turn out to be of Dali's beautiful paintings," and they would like to return "These Maidens To Their Admirers who look upon them with the greatest Lust and Affection." 26 Janaury 1962
