Damages of 5,000 dollars ( ?,000 ) for breach of promise have been awarded at Los Angeles against Mr Harry Joe Brown ( film director husband of Sally Eilers the actress ) - the plaintiff ( Miss Marjorie Whiteis - a film actress who claimed 100,000 dollars or ?0,000 ) declared that Mr Brown proposed to her while he was shaving - in the course of her evidence Miss Whiteis described yacht parties with kisses and avowed affection andd added that mr Brown told her the reason for his going about with Miss Eilers was that she was able to help him with his career - photo shows a picture which was produced in court during the hearing of the case - Miss Whiteis said it shows her and Harry Joe Brown sitting on the rail of Mr Brown's yacht during a cruise to Catalina April 13th 1934
