A forlorn and partly burnt teddy bear belongong to four year old Steven Stringer son of a freelance photographer Graham Stringer of Peckham in London lies in the living room of their home and is part of the evidence of a recent visit by the poltergeist Larry. This ghostly pyromaniac sets objects on fire every year about this time. The ghost, a greyish fluorescent column of vibrating light, has been nicknamed Larry to quell the questions of the Stringer child who repeatedly saw the apparition. Later this month a famous British medium is to conduct a seance in the house. Last year the fires stopped following a visit from a Roman Catholic priest who read the rite of exorcism. Scotland Yard who were called in by firemen following a recent outbreak were impressed by the fact that the Stringers do not have a fire insurance policy. - 10th April 1962
