Likely to cause as much discussion as some of the artist's previous works is PORTRAIT OF CHRIST, with which 47-year-old Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dali is pictured at the Lefevre Gallery, Bruton Street, London to-day (Monday). Dali considers this to be his greatest painting. He was working on it right up to the time he left his Spanish home at Port Lligat to come to London. The picture shows an extremely foreshortened figure of Christ on the Cross, and measures seven feet by five. It is included in the exhibition of Dali's works - his first in London for Dali's wroks - his first in London for 15 years - taking place at the Lefevre Gallery from December 5-21. Religious Pictures are prominent in the exhibition. Dali, who described himself as 'the predestined savious of painting', says that he is now a Roman Catholic. 3 December 1951
