West Germany in Final : 1966 World Cup Football West Germany, the only previous winners of the World Cup, still in the competitions, reached the final by beating the USSR 2-1 at Goodison Park, Liverpool. Picture shows : West Germany's Uwe Seeler receiving kick in face from Russia's Albert Shesternev during German raid on the Soviet goal. There was yet another incident , Chislenke, the Russian forward, being ordered off by referee Lo Belle of Italy a minute before half time when West Germany were leading 1-0. The Russian goal came two minutes before the end. 25 July 1966
