1066 And All That The Bexhill Round Table Club ( Sussex ) are on Saturday , 15th October , staging a 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings at the town of Battle in Sussex , where in 1066 King Harold of England was defeated by William of Normandy ( WiIliam the Conqeror ) . The battle will be fought on the alleged original battle ground at Powdermill Lane , Battle . The armies ( Saxon and Norman ) will be made up of amateur actors , students , members of the Round Table Club and others. To add to the scene other items will be performed , an archery contest between English and French archers and jousting combats .
