At the anniversary of Ve-Day, Princess Elizabeth made her first public appearance at a charity ball, with a party of young friends she went to the Dorchester Hotel, London, to attend the Royal and Merchant Navy Ball in aid of King George's fund for sailors. President of the Ball Committee is Mrs A.V.Alexander, wife of the first Lord of the Admiralty, and the chairman is Lady Rupert Neville.
