Crowds Lined Some the Streets to See the New Lord Mayor, Sir Bracewell Smith, Ride by the Great Gold Coach, Accompanied by Outriders of the Legion of Frontiersmen, Service Contingents Beefeaters from the Tower in Their Picturesque Uniforms, Pikemen in Tudor Dress, and Galaxy of striking tableaux depicting the work and play. The procession, more than a mile long made its way through cheering crowds from the Guildhall to the Law Courts, where the new Lord Mayor was presented to the judges of the King's bench, thence back to the mansion house. 9 November 1946
