The second day of Royal Ascot today, Wednesday, saw a bigger attendance than yesterday despite the rain. The men had raincoats over their morning clothes and most of the women were wearing wrapped plastic macs over their dresses. Big race of the day was the Royal Hunt Cup, and, as in most of the Ascot Races this year, there was strong opposition from many French entries. The Royal Family came from Windsor to attend the racing. Picture Shows: Master Vote passing the post to win the Royal Hunt Cup from a field of 28 at Ascot today. T.Sidebothom rode the winner and 2 lengths behind came Whitehall (10) and Yarn(28), ridden by A Carson, coming third. 18 June 1947
