Already valiant fighter with William I; after defeating the Saracens dedicated himself to penance and pilgrimage; a malignant fever caught him near Voghera (Pavia); and the faithful of the town that was home to the tomb elected him to its Patron; invoking his protection even on pets and in particular against the diseases of cattle.
