RISORGIMENTO Dove Antonietti; (1826 -1849) Italian patriot; married Count Louis Porzi (against the wishes of the family; also the hero of the Risorgimento); lieutenant of the papal troops; moved from his native town Foligno in Rome. In 1848-1849 her husband joined the Roman Republic. Dove; to fight by his side; renounced her femininity wearing the uniform of a sharpshooter. The Bourbon troops fought in the Battle of Velletri (18 to 19 May 1849) and Palestrina; showing courage; bravery and intelligence; earning the praise of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Fought at Porta San Pancrazio in Rome; where he died under the fire of the French artillery in defense of the Roman Republic; In the press commemorative scroll reads: Foligno - portrait of Dove Antonietti - died at the siege of Rome; 1849.
