EXHIBITIONS The Universal Exhibition of Rome (EUR). General planimetry and official Manifesto of exposure. In 1939 it gave way to the implementation of the project; directed by Marcello Piacentini (1881-1960) of the construction of the district of the EUR. The Universal Exhibition of Rome should take place in 1942 (from which the name E42 given to the district became then EUR) but with the advent of the war was suspended every constructive activities. The design of the district (1938) was entrusted to a commission of which they were part S. Pagano; L. Piccinato and M. Piacentini but the proposal was rejected. The Commission broke up and the direction was taken over by Piacentini while the design of the buildings was assigned by means of competitions. Rome; October 1939
