John the Baptist de la Salle (1651-1719) has a vision of Jesus Christ among the poor. Noting negligence and lack of efficacy in teaching in schools for general education which he collaborated; gathered teachers to infuse enthusiasm in their mission; developing new methods that included; among other things; the abandonment of Latin in favor of the local current language. He was the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Patron of teachers; commemorating April 7. Figurine chromolithographic; France circa 1900.
