Spittlebug moulting. Froghopper (superfamily Cercopoidea) nymph (spittlebug) moulting within protective foam. Nymphs are an immature stage in the life-cycle of many invertebrates. Froghopper nymphs are known as spittlebugs due to the foam of frothed plant sap (cuckoo spit) they produce and they live within as protection from predators.
