Colonialism The tea is subjected to numerous drying processes during preparation. The leaves are initially placed in baskets or steel containers very short and wide; then settled in the shade outdoors; often under verandas. Followed by other drying processes; greatly varies depending on the nature of the Treaty tea character. Some of the finest varieties are never handled; but you run as smoothly in the sieves.
