Former Bundesschule of the General German Trade Union Federation.Educational and administrative building in the north of Bernau near Berlin; district Bernau-Waldfrieden.Designed by architect Hannes Meyer with Hans Wittwer and Bauhaus students.Built between 1928 and 1930; since 1977 under monument protection.The union school was occupied by the SA on May 2; 1933; and later converted into a Reichschule of the NSDAP.From 1947 to 1990; the German Free Trade Union Confederation (FDGB) used the building complex as a trade union college "Fritz Heckert".In July 2017; the Bundesschule was declared World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
