St. Benedict; identified by an inscription reading: 鈥楽[an]c[tu]s Benedictus Abbas' is enthroned under a curtained arch; with the background either side filled with architectural motifs. He has a golden fillet; representing the crown of life; round his head; and is dressed in Mass vestments. He holds a golden book; presumably his Rule; on his knee; and proffers a golden crown.
