John Webber.[Whole drawing] The woman of Tahiti is dressed in the manner called 鈥楢tee'; her body is wrapped in a large quantity of cloth; and decorated with two 鈥楾aames' or breastplates. The cloth and breastplates are to be offered a gifts. Cook records in his journal that two women were conducted on board the ship; and the cloth and breastplates; together with pigs and fruit; were offered to Cook as a present from the father of Otoo.
